Saturday Morning Bliss: How to Make the Most of Your Chill Time
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We're constantly on the go, juggling work, family, and social commitments. But it's important to remember that it's okay to slow down and take some time for ourselves.
One of the best ways to do this is to enjoy a quiet Saturday morning. Trust me, I know how difficult this can be when you have little rugrats running around. But, this is a time when you can relax, recharge, and focus on your own needs. Here are a few ideas for how to make the most of your Saturday morning chill time:
Wake up naturally. Don't set an alarm and force yourself to get up at a certain time. Instead, let your body wake up when it's ready. This will help you to feel more rested and refreshed. If you have small children, you might consider alternating with your partner to get up early with the kiddos.
Savor your morning cup of coffee or tea. Take your time and enjoy the moment. Sit in your favorite chair, read a book or magazine, or simply listen to the birds chirping. This morning it was just cool enough to turn on the fire place and get cozy for a while :)
Have a leisurely breakfast. Whether you prefer pancakes, waffles, eggs, or something else entirely, take your time and enjoy your food. Don't rush through your breakfast or eat while you're standing up. Sit down at a table and savor every bite.
Read a book or magazine. This is a great way to relax and de-stress. Curl up on the couch with a good book or magazine and let yourself get lost in the story. I struggle with this one- if its a good read I’m LOCKED in all day! If you're feeling creative, you could even try writing your own story, blog, or writing in a journal.
Take a walk or do some other form of exercise. This is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise. If you live near a park, take a walk and enjoy the scenery. If you don't have time to go outside, you could do some indoor exercises, such as yoga or Pilates. I love getting my work-outs done on Saturday a little later in the morning (vs my weekday 5 am workouts)!
Write in a journal. This is a great way to process your thoughts and feelings. Write about whatever is on your mind, whether it's something that happened during the week or something that you're looking forward to. I find I’m the most creative when I have time to slow down and clear my head.
Spend time with loved ones. If you have a partner, kids, or other loved ones, make some time for them on Saturday morning. Have breakfast together, play a game, or simply chat. Spending time with loved ones is a great way to relax and recharge.
Do nothing. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is relax and do nothing at all. Take a nap, take a bath, or simply sit on the couch and do nothing. It's okay to take some time for yourself and just relax!
Taking some time for yourself on Saturday morning is like hitting the reset button on your week. It's a chance to chill out, recharge, and do whatever you dang well please! So next Saturday morning, make sure to take some time for yourself and do your thing.
And if you find yourself getting bored, just remember: there's always the option of doing nothing at all. And that's perfectly okay! Sometimes, the best way to relax is to simply veg out.
So go ahead, put on your comfy clothes, grab a snack, and watch your favorite trashy TV show. You've earned it!
